GA4 setup
Troubleshoot missing data
Most “no data” problems are simple wiring issues: the tag fires into one property, Fluxion is connected to another, or the tag never actually published.
Checklist (start here)
- Verify the tag fires on a real page load (Realtime + a tag debugging tool).
- Confirm the tag is installed in the right place: <head> (and on every page).
- Confirm the tag ID is correct: in GA4 go to Admin→ Data streams, open your web stream, and copy the Measurement ID from Stream details. That ID must match what you installed.
- If you use GTM, confirm the GTM container snippets are in the right places (head + body) and that your tag is triggered and published.
- In Fluxion, go to Settings and make sure Google is connected for the account owner.
- In Fluxion, confirm the saved GA4 property ID matches the property receiving data.
- If this is a new install, be patient with processed data. Google notes it can take up to 24 hours for Analytics to process newly collected data for reporting.
Common causes
- Changes were made in GTM but never published.
- The tag was installed on a staging domain but Fluxion is checking the production site.
- An ad blocker or strict browser settings hide your own visits (test in a clean browser profile).
- Multiple tags were installed and they conflict (duplicate pageviews or noisy events).
FAQ
Why does Fluxion show no data?
Most often it’s a mismatch: the GA4 tag is sending data into one property/stream, but Fluxion is connected to a different GA4 property. The other common cause is a tag change that was never published.
How can I confirm the GA4 tag is firing?
Open your site and watch GA4 Realtime while you click around. For deeper debugging, use a tag debugging tool or Tag Manager Preview to confirm the tag loads and sends requests.
How long does it take for data to appear?
Realtime can show activity quickly, but processed reporting data can take time. If it’s a new install, confirm the tag is firing first, then allow time for GA4 processing.
What info should I send to support?
Share your site URL, the GA4 property ID saved in Fluxion, and the Measurement ID used by your tag (if available). Also mention whether you installed via GTM or directly.
