GA4 setup
Install tracking with Google Tag Manager
This is the setup we recommend for most Fluxion users because it’s easier to audit and change later. You install one container snippet once, then manage the GA tag and other pixels without touching your site code every time.
What you need first
- A GA4 web data stream already created.
- Your Measurement ID (starts with G-).
- Access to the website (or whoever publishes GTM changes).
Steps (typical setup)
- Go to tagmanager.google.com, sign in, and open the container for your website.
- In your Workspace, open Tags and click New.
- Set the tag type to Google Tag.
- In the Tag ID field, paste your tag ID (for most GA4 setups this is your Measurement ID starting with G-).
- Under Triggering, select an Initialization page-view trigger (for exampleInitialization - All Initialization Events).
- Verify before publishing: click Preview to open Tag Assistant, enter your site URL, and connect.
- Publish: click Submit and choose Publish and Create Version. Add a name/description and publish.
FAQ
Do I need Google Tag Manager to use Fluxion?
No. Fluxion reads GA4 reporting data. GTM is just one way to install the Google tag. You can also install directly with gtag.js.
Where do I paste my Measurement ID in GTM?
In Tag Manager, create a Google Tag and paste the G-XXXX ID into the Tag ID field. Then attach a trigger that fires on every page.
Which trigger should I use?
Use a page-view style trigger that fires on every page. Many teams use an Initialization trigger so the tag loads early.
How do I know my GTM changes are live?
Preview can confirm the tag fires in your browser, but the change is not live until you Submit/Publish a version. After publishing, verify in GA4 Realtime with a real page load.

Set up Google Analytics in Tag ManagerFluxion-specific note
Fluxion doesn’t need custom GTM magic. What matters is that your tag points to the correct property, fires on all pages, and is published.
