GA4 setup

Create a GA4 property

Fluxion reads reporting data from a GA4 property. The goal is not to build a perfect GA4 setup. The goal is to create a clean, correctly-scoped property so Fluxion can report on it reliably.

Before you create anything

  • Create one property per website or app you want to track. Avoid mixing unrelated sites in the same property.
  • Pick the correct timezone and currency. This affects day boundaries and revenue.
  • Use a clear naming pattern (example: Brand — Website).

Steps

Google notes you need an Editor (or higher) role on the Analytics account to create properties.

  1. Open GA4 and go to Admin. If you’re not coming straight from the account setup flow, use Createand then choose Property.
  2. Enter a property name, then choose the reporting time zone and currency.
  3. Continue through the “Next” screens. You’ll be asked for business details like industry and size.
  4. Click Create. If this is a brand new account, you may be asked to accept the terms.
  5. After the property exists, add a web data stream. That stream is what you’ll use to get a Measurement ID and install your tag.

FAQ

Do I need a separate GA4 property for each website?

Yes. Use one property per website or app so reporting stays clean. Mixing unrelated sites makes channels and conversions harder to interpret in Fluxion.

What is the difference between a GA4 account and a GA4 property?

Think of the account as the top-level container (who has access). A property is the specific analytics setup for a website or app that Fluxion will read data from.

Which timezone and currency should I choose?

Choose the timezone your business reports in (this affects day boundaries) and the currency you want revenue reported in. These settings impact how dashboards roll up daily totals.

What is the next step after creating the property?

Create a web data stream. The stream is where you get the Measurement ID used to install your Google tag and start collecting data.

Common mistakes that break dashboards

  • Using the wrong timezone and then wondering why daily totals feel “shifted”.
  • Tracking multiple websites in one property and losing clean channel/campaign reporting.
  • Creating the property correctly but installing the tag on the wrong site.
